Mitel Networks Corporation is a leading global provider of enterprise and small business communications solutions and services and won the contract to provide the communications infrastructure for the new Swindon & Marlborough NHS Trust hospital.

As Mitel's preferred supplier of UPS and power solutions Keysource were consulted to recommend a range of UPS solutions for both telecom and IT applications. The final solution included 18 UPS systems including 4 hour autonomy for critical applications, rack mount UPS, central 3 phase UPS for the computer room and five 'High Availability' UPS system for communications and IT applications.

All UPS are fitted with web cards and in some cases temperature and humidity sensors for central monitoring of the UPS status and local environmental conditions

Keysource have supplied many thousands of UPS to Mitel during our 20 year relationship.

As the preferred specialist power supplier Keysource designed and installed a secure power system for the Main Group office in Watford. Working to a tight project timetable to co-inside with the roll out of a new email system Keysource installed an 80kW UPS, 220kVA Standby Diesel Generator and all associated electrical work including rewiring the computer room.

Keysource have supplied and installed many UPS systems at Hilton hotels throughout the UK and recently completed a full audit, first level maintenance and remedial work on more than 300 UPS systems in UK Hilton hotels.

3 x 240kW UPS & 1.5MVA Standby Generator

Argos is the UK's largest non-food retail chain, with sales over £3bn and over 525 stores throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland. As part of the project to extend and upgrade the IT facilities at the Milton Keynes HQ Keysource were selected to upgrade the existing UPS with APC Silcon 240kW UPS modules in spring 2001.

Working closely with the experienced on-site client team and Consulting engineers from the international engineers Parsons Brinckerhoff, Keysource took full responsibility for the removal and reinstallation of the UPS as part of a carefully timed project programme.

Continued Argos success and expansion of the IT facilities during 2002 required further upgrade of the secure power infrastructure and Keysource were contracted to supply a third 240kW UPS module and upgrade the aging generator with a new 1.5MVA standby diesel generating set from FG Wilson.

UPS and Generator Maintenance

Keysource won the maintenance contract for critical UPS systems installed at the Worton Grange and Acre Road complexes in Reading (previously Compaq).

Covering new and old UPS from different manufacturers from 3kVA up to 480kW, Keysource are working with the on-site maintenance contractor to provide advice on best utilization of specialist plant with comprehensive planned maintenance and 4-hour on-site support when required.

UPS Upgrade

Working with the Lloyds Bank in-house engineering team Keysource were selected to upgrade the aging UPS at Lloyd's offices in Chelmsford.

Keysource project managed the removal of the existing UPS & battery and installed a new parallel redundant 60kW UPS. Careful planning to avoid downtime to the business was required and the project was successfully completed with minimal interruption to the IT services.

Keysource have completed many UPS installations for Lloyds TSB including multiple sites in Haywards Heath, various sites in London, Worthing, Birmingham & Brighton.

As part of the refurbishment of the prestigious offices in George Street, Edinburgh Keysource won the contract to supply and install a parallel redundant 60kW UPS system to support the IT equipment in the computer room.

Given the critical nature of the IT operations, ISIS understood the effect that the M+E services can have on system uptime. Following exhaustive consultation with the client team Keysource have installed a comprehensive alarm monitoring and notification solution to provide early warning of any problems with the physical and environmental infrastructure supporting the computer room.

Integrated with the BMS the Keysource package uses SNMP traps and a Network Management System (NMS) to provide information and alarm notification by email and SMS on all services including: - Power (UPS, Generator & switchgear), Air conditioning (AHU's & chillers etc), Fire detection and suppression system with separate temperature and humidity monitoring.

Keysource also installed a 120kW UPS at the London offices during 2000

East Sussex Fire Brigade

Refurbishment of Computer Room

In Autumn 2001 East Sussex FB relocated their HQ to Sussex House, Eastbourne, whilst the building had a space previously used as a Computer room the room fell short of the exacting standards required by the IT and operational professionals in the Brigade to support the IT operation and M&CC.

The mobilizing and communications centre (M&CC) is the hub of the brigade; all 999 emergency calls are routed to this centre. During the course of a year, M&CC mobilise to some 14000 incidents (fires and special service calls) and process in excess of 21000 emergency calls.

ESFB employed the specialist computer room 'design & build' services offered by Keysource to upgrade the computer room to accommodate the mission critical IT and communications equipment.

Working to tight deadlines Keysource completely surveyed the existing space and carried out refurbishment and upgrade including, UPS installation to support the Computer room and M&CC, rewiring the computer room, raised access floor works, installation of full function air conditioning and Fire detection & suppression systems.

2 x 2MW UPS Installation

The Nationwide is the largest building society in the world and the UK's fifth largest mortgage lender with HQ based in Swindon. In the spring 2003 the client embarked upon a project to upgrade the UPS infrastructure at the critical 'Swindon Technology Centre'.

Keysource ensured compliance with the exacting specification and programme prepared by JDP, Nationwide's building services consultants. JDP is one of the leading firms of building services consultants in the UK, having received the "M&E Consultant of the Year" Award for 1999 from the Electrical Industry

The main contractor, EI WHS a leading UK Building services contractor; after tough negotiation and ensuring compliance with the technical specification, EI WHS awarded the UPS contract to specialist power system and UPS experts Keysource for Phase 1 of the upgrade, installation of 4 x 480kW UPS modules in parallel redundant configuration.

Phase 1 of the installation proved a success and Keysource won Phase 2 of the contract for a separate installation of 4 further parallel 480kW UPS modules due to be completed towards the end of the summer when Keysource can remove the aging UPS and battery to make way for the new installation.
