Team Keysource Vs Kelgray

21 Jun 2007

The match report from the company fixture of Team Keysource Vs Kelgray.

With a mixture of anticipation and excitement from the stands as kick off edged nearer, there were a few last minute words from team Captain (Jon Healy) and a team photograph. Team Keysource were ready for kick off.

With confidence a little fragile from seeing the Kelgray's team arrive and look as though they all played some form of Saturday or Sunday League football the game kicked off. Quickly the Kelgray's were on attack with a couple of sighters flashing wide. The game settled down after 10 minutes and maybe Chopper (Ian McGillivray) was feeling a little too relaxed when an innocuous throw in back to the keeper proved to be the key to unlocking the Team Keysource defence. In a moment that Chopper will not care to re-live he juggled the ball on his head before presenting Kelgray's striker with a sight of goal which he duly finished. 0-1

Looking for a quick response Team Keysource went on the attack with some excellent play through the midfield , with the duo of Jamie Merrit and Richard Lumb up to the ever willing runners of Rob Elder and Andy Hayes. With these four player combining so effectively it was only a matter of time before the scores were levelled and on 22 minutes after another pass from midfield Rob was able to finish with assurance. 1-1

With the game in the balance and each team knowing that the next score would be crucial, Team Keysource pushed forward in the knowledge that with the platform of a solid back four (John Board, Jon Healy, Steve Lorimer and James Levitton) they would be able to repel all attacks from Kelgray. This was to be the case with another calm finish from Rob with 3 minutes to half time.2-1

The Half time whistle blew with Kelgray pressing forward to get level, Chopper made some brave and deth defying saves and Jon Healy brought the ball into midfield with some assured displays of trickery (no wonder he is so adored by the fans in the crowd) to make sure that Keysource went into half time ahead.

The Second Half kicked off and with the mind set of attack is the best form of defence, Keysource pushed forward, with Daniel Johnson and Scott Spybey both enjoying plenty of space on the wings. With Team Keysource adopting a fluid 3-4-3 formation, Kelgray continued to threaten with the extra space and at times had a front 5. With this extra space in midfield, Richard, Jamie and Scott started to exchange passing before Scott was able to break down the left wing and provide a pin point cross to Richard who finished with a firm header past the flat footed Kelgray keeper. 3-1.

With the game getting streched and Kelgray desperate to make a game of it they pressed forward, enabling Andy to take advantage with a dink over the keeper for his first and Keysource's fourth. 4-1.

Taking maximum advantage of the space and the drooping heads of the Kelgray team the tireless Scott broke free and with only the keeper to beat did a "Rob Elder" chipping the keeper from 20 yards for Keysource's fifth and effectively ending all Kelgray's hopes of recovery. 5-1

Kelgray manged a late concilation 5-2 but nothing could stop the celebrations in the crowd and on the pitch as Team Keysource trooped off the pitch to be greated by their adoring fans!
